Rainy Friday…

About an inch of rain fell last night and it was still drizzling this morning.  That didn’t stop me from running errands.  I have finally gathered my stuff together  to make my fruitcakes and the stuff was more expensive than ever this year.

A little excitement next door a little while ago.  My neighbor turned her furnace on for the first time today and her smoke alarm went off at the same time.  Something in the furnace was burning that shouldn’t have been.

She called 911 and then the fire truck arrived.  When I first saw it I was afraid that an ambulance would soon follow because my neighbors 2 doors down are both in their mid 80s and not well.

And that is enough excitement for me for today!!  I hope you all have a peaceful weekend.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  1. Thank goodness that turned out well. Back in the day when we had an old fashioned furnace (gas furnace though) we had something like that happen. The boys were all toddlers. NO fun at all.

  19. That same thing happened to my daughter last year when they turned on their heater. The heater coils burned up and the smoke alarm started screaming, and they couldn't get it to shut off, so they called the fire department. It was too much excitement for them! They were glad the fire department knew what was causing the alarmt to go off!

  20. When do you plan to begin baking your fruitcakes? I know it's time to start just so they have enough time to "marinate.":)

You certainly had an exciting beginning to your day! It's good there wasn't anything more serious going on with someone!

  24. That's the kind of excitement that nobody needs.

Fruitcake is quite expensive to make. I bet it will taste great though.

  25. Glad it wasn't too serious!!! That furnace going on for the first time is always a nasty business. Ours likes to set off our alarms as well. Thankfully we don't have to turn it on often:)

  29. Have you calmed down now? LOL all that excitement, still it was a good thing that no one was hurt and it was a bit of a false alarm. .Enjoy your weekend. No doubt you'll be baking your Christmas goodies. MMM.yummy.

  30. I have lived through a fire. It was pretty scary, waking up in the morning one day before Christmas to find your building on fire. Nobody was hurt but it was a terrible inconvienence for all.

    Enjoy your coming week.

  32. Vrooom. Vrooom. One of the oldest professions that still make house calls. I have to say, I am partial to the red and white chariots!!! Can I have this pic to add to my collection? The name of the Fire Department? :)

    1. It happens. Unfortunately. But hey... no one was hurt and that is what matters. Things could certainly have been worse.
