that is the question. Now I am not very involved with either Twitter or Facebook although I do have an account with each one. My blogs are posted on these accounts and that is about it.
I did sit up and take notice (as did the major news outlets and half the country) when a Twitter parody affected the Peoria IL mayor and things went to h*ll in a hand basket. Actually it is kind of funny since I am looking in from the outside. Not quite so funny for the mayor. When he became aware of the parody Twitter account about him he went bonkers so to speak. He obtained a search warrant and the police hit the house where the Twitters were coming from. While this search was taking place one of the residents of the house was arrested for possession of a small amount of mar ge wana. LOL I can hardly type this as I am laughing so hard. Needless to say the arrested owner of the mar ge wana is not laughing.

“The warrant, filed in Peoria County Circuit Court, details a two- to three-week process whereby Peoria police tracked down the location of the Internet address used for the account as well as the identity of the person who paid for the Web access.”

Needless to say I am all a twitter over this!
I hope you all have a peaceful weekend. Whatever you do, don’t open any new Twitter accounts!
Stay safe and be happy!!
Beth
I tweet occasionally. I've met some very nice people on Twitter.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Beth, That is so funny. My gosh, I am not texting, twittering, or face booking...I can barely handle this blog.LOL. Blessings to you for a wonderful weekend, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteI never heard about this!! CRAZY! I don't think I am a tweeter, just can't figure it out! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeletenot facing charges? impersonating a public official and posting things in his name and he'll not face charges? sheesh!
ReplyDeletei don't face, tweet, pin or instagram. i just blog. and that's more than i can keep up with some days. :)
Oh Beth I laughed out loud when you said you were not all a twitter about it:) mar ge wana. is funny:) Hug B
ReplyDeleteAll a twitter....lol I have a twitter account, but rarely tweet. I don't think I really understand it. All those #s and such.
ReplyDeleteI also have a Facebook account, which I use frequently. I like that I have been able to connect with friends I had lost contact with. And I can share pictures with family. That's the fun part.
Oh my, I heard about the Mayor's problems from my daughter. I think it would have been better had he made a joke of the whole thing and laughed along with the rest of us.
Fun post!
I have a twitter and tweeted once because it seemed to be all about trivial things. I lurk on FB - sometimes, but would rather be blogging. Guess that it is a matter of preference.
ReplyDeleteno twitter for me, well actually my grandson reminded me I did open an account, but I have only used it once or twice and had forgotten all about it. Have a happy weekend. Hugs Nita
ReplyDeleteI'm not into the twittering lol but this was funny, I just todday deactivated my facebook, I have enough with my blog,, social interaction that is, its all a bit much sometimes,
ReplyDeleteDon't do it!!!! It's a waste of time. I don't get it!
ReplyDeleteOn that note:) Have a good weekend.
But his story was kinda funny. Until it happens to you:)
ReplyDeleteI opened an account with Twitter over a year ago, just out of curiosity and I have to say I don't like it...so I never use it. I am active on Facebook to keep contact with some friends, but in all honesty, I prefer my blog!
ReplyDeleteThose tweets can get you into trouble. : )
ReplyDeleteI have both accounts but rarely use them.
Mary here - Mario has a Twitter account, but he's with a bunch of animals and it's a nice community. The human side of Twitter you really have to be careful with - lots of strange people over there. Loved your post - you had me laughing.
ReplyDeleteI don't have twitter. I have enough trouble keeping abreast of fb and my blog (which I haven't been too good about lately). Sounds like quite the to do with the mayor.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I have a twitter account but have hardly tweeted a thing. I guess I don't get the appeal. I do love Instagram though. Do you have an instagram account?
ReplyDeleteSis..I have a twitter but don't tweet much. I really like the updates on the weather...wonderful warning system..
ReplyDeletePrayers for you always..
I never had a Twitter account. I never saw the need for it, but that's me.
ReplyDeleteMar ge wana. Never heard of it. Ok maybe I have.
LOL- Beth- You can bet I won't. I don't have a Twitter Account...and I don't think I want one. I need a little media break in my life-xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI have not heard the phrase "hell in a hand basket" in years, it's such a funny saying!! I use and love Facebook but I do not have a twitter account!!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have Twitter accounts. When Twitter first started up, we looked at what people were writing, and there was so much ugliness and bad words, we decided we didn't even want to read the stuff. I know a lot of people like it, but we are glad we didn't waste any time there. New technology can be very good, or not so good, in which case it is easy to pass up. :)
ReplyDeleteI have no idea about twitter. I have heard about it before, but i had no interest to create an account in it!
ReplyDeleteOh my, what next....anyone can use ones name and do what they want with it :) and you don't have to have a Facebook or Twitter account either.
ReplyDeleteI find Twitter fascinating following the news as it happens, traffic delays and so on. I don't tweet though.
I used to tweet all the time but since I no longer am on social media I no longer do. That's so hilarious about the mayor though. I can't believe though that they can get a search warrant just because someone is tweeting something bad? That's a little overboard if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteI have a Facebook account, and have been hacked three times. It is a pain! I am ready to delete my account. I am not a Twit, so I don't Twitter. Where does it end? I have too much going on to be glued to the computer. *sigh* I like blogging; that is enough.
ReplyDeleteI've never been very impressed with Twitter and FB...well, it's lost much of the luster it never had.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! Good amusing post Beth.
ReplyDeleteHugs Sheila x
I ahvve a twitter account but I rarely use it I just don't see the point
ReplyDeleteYou need a phone for that..and I am not getting one:)
ReplyDeleteI don't use me twitter account Beth despite having it since almost day one of it's inception, I do do FB but mostly with dog friends, I as you kow just about keep up with my blog but if I had more followers and comments would ptobably give up FB, But though I didn't catch all of your post, I did laugh just at the thought of you laughing about it. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm not on twitter or facebook. I would be upset if somebody said they were me and posted horrible things, too.
