To Twitter or not to Twitter….

that is the question.  Now I am not very involved with either Twitter or Facebook although I do have an account with each one.  My blogs are posted on these accounts and that is about it.

I did sit up and take notice (as did the major news outlets and half the country) when a Twitter parody affected the Peoria IL mayor and things went to h*ll in a hand basket.  Actually it is kind of funny since I am looking in from the outside.  Not quite so funny for the mayor.  When he became aware of the parody Twitter account about him he went bonkers so to speak.  He obtained a search warrant and the police hit the house where the  Twitters were coming from.  While this search was taking place one of the residents of the house was arrested for possession of a small amount of mar ge wana.  LOL  I can hardly type this as I am laughing so hard.  Needless to say the arrested owner of the mar ge wana is not laughing.

“The warrant, filed in Peoria County Circuit Court, details a two- to three-week process whereby Peoria police tracked down the location of the Internet address used for the account as well as the identity of the person who paid for the Web access.”

  6. All a twitter....lol I have a twitter account, but rarely tweet. I don't think I really understand it. All those #s and such.

I also have a Facebook account, which I use frequently. I like that I have been able to connect with friends I had lost contact with. And I can share pictures with family. That's the fun part.

Oh my, I heard about the Mayor's problems from my daughter. I think it would have been better had he made a joke of the whole thing and laughed along with the rest of us.

    Fun post!

  7. I have a twitter and tweeted once because it seemed to be all about trivial things. I lurk on FB - sometimes, but would rather be blogging. Guess that it is a matter of preference.

  12. I opened an account with Twitter over a year ago, just out of curiosity and I have to say I don't like it...so I never use it. I am active on Facebook to keep contact with some friends, but in all honesty, I prefer my blog!

  14. Mary here - Mario has a Twitter account, but he's with a bunch of animals and it's a nice community. The human side of Twitter you really have to be careful with - lots of strange people over there. Loved your post - you had me laughing.

  21. We don't have Twitter accounts. When Twitter first started up, we looked at what people were writing, and there was so much ugliness and bad words, we decided we didn't even want to read the stuff. I know a lot of people like it, but we are glad we didn't waste any time there. New technology can be very good, or not so good, in which case it is easy to pass up. :)

  22. I have no idea about twitter. I have heard about it before, but i had no interest to create an account in it!

  23. Oh my, what next....anyone can use ones name and do what they want with it :) and you don't have to have a Facebook or Twitter account either.
I find Twitter fascinating following the news as it happens, traffic delays and so on. I don't tweet though.

  24. I used to tweet all the time but since I no longer am on social media I no longer do. That's so hilarious about the mayor though. I can't believe though that they can get a search warrant just because someone is tweeting something bad? That's a little overboard if you ask me.

  25. I have a Facebook account, and have been hacked three times. It is a pain! I am ready to delete my account. I am not a Twit, so I don't Twitter. Where does it end? I have too much going on to be glued to the computer. *sigh* I like blogging; that is enough.
